Incident Type: Rescue

In the morning a male runner slipped while traversing the route between Broadstruther and Commonburn House, twisting his ankle. The runner was being assisted off the hill by the Trail Outlaws sweep party as our Team members arrived on scene. One of our Remote Rescue Medical Technicians assessed the casualty before they were transported to Commonburn House in the team’s vehicle, Curlew Foxtrot. After a further assessment and monitoring, the runner was provided with worsening advice before being discharged.

The Team also dealt with a second runner at the event centre who had completed the race despite sustaining an injury. Given the runner’s condition additional support from the North East Ambulance Service was requested. Thank you to the Community Paramedic and double crewed ambulance for their timely response.

We would like to wish both competitors a full and swift recovery from their injuries and a hearty well done to all of the runners who took part of the both days!

The incident involved 7 Team members for 3 hours 25 minutes.
