In An Emergency
In the event of accident
First note any relevant details (location preferably a grid reference, name, gender & age of casualty, nature of injuries, number of people in the party, mobile number).
Dial 999 or 112, ask for ‘Police’,
Then request ‘Mountain Rescue’.
Give all your prepared details of the incident.
Do NOT change your position until contacted by the Mountain Rescue Team.
Wherever possible take shelter and keep warm.
If your batteries are low or when the signal coverage is weak you may not be able to speak to the police but a text message may get through to the emergency services. You must set up this service before you go on the hill in order to use it.
Register your mobile phone now before you go out; don’t wait until you need the emergency SMS service: http://emergencysms.org.uk/
