Incident Type: Rescue
On Tuesday afternoon, ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team were requested by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assist following an incident involving a casualty with a lower leg injury in a rural location.
The initial information included coordinates but no What3Words location, requiring conversion to an OS grid reference. With details still being clarified, team members were placed on standby while further information was obtained from the ambulance service. The location was confirmed as near White House Folly, north of Alnwick, with an ambulance en route but not yet on scene.
With some team members already well-positioned locally, a limited response was deployed and arrived quickly on scene. Following assessment and treatment by a mountain rescue paramedic and an off duty paramedic, the casualty was assisted into a mountain rescue vehicle and transported to nearby properties, where they were handed over to the waiting ambulance crew for onward care.
In total, 8 team members were involved for 2 hours 30 minutes, with a further 21 members on standby in case additional resources were required.
