Northumbria Police activated Mountain Rescue for a search in the Wallington area of Northumberland. A high risk missing person had been reported missing earlier on Monday morning after they had left their family home overnight.
A search strategy and plan was agreed between the Police Search Adviser and the Mountain Rescue tactical and operational commanders. Search groups comprising members from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves were then deployed to undertake methodical searches along routes and through areas of woodland. At times the wooded areas were impenetrable due to thick brambles and bracken.
The National Police Air Service also overflew the area. Despite everyones’ best efforts the missing person was not located and Police enquiries were ongoing.
The incident involved 23 Team members for 10 hours 45 minutes.
