A female whilst out walking with her family fell and sustained a leg injury. Unable to continue the family did exactly the right thing and rang the Police to request Mountain Rescue. Northumbria Police then activated North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves, along with the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
Our Toyota Hilux was swiftly deployed from Rothbury and shortly after the casualty’s exact location had been confirmed, a full callout was initiated by the duty controller.
The casualty was treated by the Rothbury Community Paramedic before Team members helped the female onto our Titan stretcher. A slightly awkward stretcher carry followed down a relatively narrow, heavily rooted trail through the forest. After transferring the casualty to the crewed Ambulance, the Teams stood down.
We would like to wish the casualty well for a full and swift recovery.
The incident involved 11 Team members for 2 hours.
