Incident Type: Rescue
On Saturday afternoon, ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team were activated by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assist a walker on Hadrian’s Wall with a lower leg injury.
Following the initial call, our duty controller quickly confirmed the location using PhoneFind, allowing both teams to be called out promptly to the Caw Gap area. With no other resources immediately on scene, team vehicles were swiftly crewed and deployed.
Local team members were first to arrive, working alongside a community paramedic to provide support and ensure the casualty was kept warm while additional resources made their way to the scene. Once more team members and equipment arrived, a coordinated effort saw the casualty safely packaged and carried from the hillside to a waiting ambulance.
Both teams stood down later that evening after a successful outcome.
The incident involved 33 Team members for 2 hours and 59 minutes.
