Incident Type: Rescue

On Sunday morning, ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team were activated by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust following a 999 call from a cyclocross event. A competitor had been involved in a fall while descending a slope, and event medics requested assistance due to concerns about a potential serious injury.

Given the information provided, the teams were immediately called out. With two of our vehicles already committed elsewhere, NOTMRT’s Key Mobile responded to the incident.

Team members were quickly on scene and worked alongside a North East Ambulance Service crew who were already assessing the casualty. Our vehicle was able to access the casualty site, allowing specialist equipment to be brought directly to the scene. Once sufficient personnel were in place, the casualty was carefully transferred using appropriate immobilisation equipment before being carried a few 100 metres to the awaiting ambulance.

The incident involved 21 Team members for 3 hours 8 minutes.
