Northumbria Police requested Mountain Rescue’s assistance for a high risk missing female in the Sunderland area. Initial information indicated that Herrington Country Park was a high priority for searching.

The Teams were placed on standby whilst one of our Duty Controllers attended the Silver briefing at Southwick Police station. During the Silver briefing and initial search planning phase, the circumstances changed. Following further Police checks, it was decided our assistance would not be required at that stage and the Teams were stood down.

The incident involved 2 Team members for 3 hours. A further 13 Team members were on standby.
