Mountain Rescue’s support was requested on Monday afternoon for a male who had collapsed on Hadrian’s Wall near to Steel Rigg car park. Despite the best efforts of all involved, the man was confirmed deceased at the scene.
Volunteer members from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Police and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
A very sad and tragic incident and our thoughts go out to the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
The incident involved 22 members for 3 hours 30 minutes.
