Stannington Bridge

Following a RTC on the A1 just before Stannington Bridge late on Monday night, Northumbria Police requested Mountain Rescue’s support in trying to locate the driver of the vehicle. Mountain Rescue resources were mobilised for a search of the surrounding area beginning at first light.

As Team vehicles and members were starting to travel to the RVP, the Police confirmed that the missing driver had returned to their home address, safe and well. At this point our resources were stood down.

The incident involved 17 members for 1 hour 40 minutes.
