Incident Type: Standby
On Tuesday, The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) requested our assistance along with North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team for a male patient who had sustained potentially serious injuries in a fall from a tree near Slaley. Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service (NFRS) had also been requested to access and extricate the patient.
The Teams were placed on standby while further information was gathered by one of our duty controllers; two mountain rescue response vehicles were deployed as an early precaution.
Fortunately, it soon became clear that the attending resources from NEAS and NFRS were able to deal with the incident without our assistance. Great teamwork by the NEAS and NFRS crews meant that the patient was safely extricated and once this was confirmed, our volunteers were stood down.
A total of 6 members were involved for 1 hour 10 minutes. A further 15 members were on standby for 35 minutes.
