Incident Type: Rescue
As North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves were leaving the RVP for the previous incident, the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust requested our services again for an incident in Slaley Forest. A teenager had fallen from a tree in a relatively inaccessible location and was unable to weight bear.
Mountain Rescue resources were immediately redirected to Slaley Forest. On arrival at the RVP an initial hasty team of three members headed into the incident site to treat and stabilise the injured party, while others made their way to the same location with vital rescue equipment. Once on a Mountain Rescue stretcher, the casualty was carried approximately 200m over rough ground through the forest, before being handed over to the NEAS crewed ambulance at approximately 17.40 hours.
We would like to wish the teenager well for a full and swift recovery, ready for their next adventure.
The incident involved 24 Team members for 3 hours 20 minutes.
