Late on Tuesday evening a female walker reported to Northumbria Police that she was lost in the Simonside Forest area. An approximate location was provided.

Unable to re-contact the female, the Police requested North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves to respond. Local resources including our 4x4 vehicle based in Rothbury were deployed to check the car parks for the walker’s vehicle and assist the Police in searching the forest tracks as part of an immediate response.

Following further information and checks, at approximately 22.10hrs it was confirmed that the walker had managed to find their way safely off the hill and back to their starting point.

The incident involved 6 Team members for 1 hour.
