Incident Type: Alert

On Tuesday evening, Northumbria Police received a 999 call from a member of the public who was at the time on the summit of Simonside. They’d seen flares being set off a few miles away and were concerned that there maybe an issue. Given the information provided, one of our duty controllers immediately contacted Range Control at Otterbrun Ranges who confirmed that flares and illuminations were connected to activity on the ranges. A well meaning alert that was swiftly resolved.

The incident involved 4 Team members for 16 minutes.
