On Friday evening, Northumbria Police requested Mountain Rescue’s support for a missing female in the Rowlands Gill area. Two of Duty Controllers from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves attended the Police Silver Command to work with the Police Search Adviser and agree a search plan.

Search groups were deployed to search routes in the Derwent valley area and the National Police Air Service were tasked to overfly the area. Once all the prioritised routes had been searched and nothing was found, the Teams stood down at 23.00hrs.

The plan was to resume in the morning. By the morning, the Teams’ Duty Controller received the good news that the missing female had returned home in the early hours and receiving care.

The incident involved 20 Team members for 5 hours 40 minutes.
