Incident Type: Rescue
As Team members were travelling to Thropton for swiftwater training, the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust activated ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team for an incident in Rothbury. Soon after the activation local members and the first response vehicle arrived on scene, closely followed by other members.
A lady had fallen sustaining an upper leg injury while walking her dog along the riverside path. Once the lady had received treatment from the NEAS Community Paramedic, the Mountain Rescue Teams transferred her to one of our specialist stretchers. The lady was then carried along the riverside path and up to the Beggars Rigg car park for the handover to the double crewed ambulance.
A very unfortunate accident for the lady concerned and we wish her well for a full and swift recovery.
The incident involved 15 Team members for 53 minutes.
