Yesterday afternoon the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust requested the assistance of Mountain Rescue and Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service for a male who had fallen on rocks at Thrum Mill near Rothbury.

North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves swiftly responded, with our Toyota Hilux deployed from Rothbury Ambulance Station and local Team members requested to attend the RVP. Another Mountain Rescue vehicle was deployed from West Denton along with further members. After immediate medical care had provided by the Paramedics on scene, Team members worked alongside the Hazardous Area Response Team and the other emergency services to evacuate the injured person up an awkward steep bank to the Ambulance on the track above.

We would like to wish the male well for a full and swift recovery.

The incident involved 10 Team members for 2 hours.
