River Wear, South Hylton

Mountain Rescue’s support for a potential bankside search along the River Wear was requested by Northumbria Police. Our Duty Controller – a Water Incident Manager – met with the Police Search Adviser down by the river to discuss the deployment while our Flood & Swiftwater First Responders and Rescue Technicians were placed on standby.

Given the time of day and the searching that had already been undertaken by the Police and Tyne & Wear Fire Fire and Rescue’s drone team, it was agreed that a bankside search at that stage would not be required.

The incident involved 6 members for 1 hour.
