Nidd Gorge, North Yorkshire

The Team’s Mountain Rescue Search Dog England handler and search dog was deployed to assist Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) with an ongoing multiagency search for an individual missing from home in Starbeck. Search dog Tess and her handler searched three very overgrown areas alongside the River Nidd with nothing found.

Very sadly North Yorkshire Police confirmed the next day that a body had been found in the River Nidd close to Nidd Gorge. The body was believed to be that of the missing person. A tragic outcome for all concerned.

The incident involved 1 Team member for 10 hours 30 minutes.
