North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves were activated by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (NEAS) just after midday yesterday for an injured walker.

Initial reports suggested a technical rope rescue would be required to safely evacuate the casualty; thankfully though this wasn’t required. On arrival Team members assisted the NEAS Hazardous Area Response Team to carry the injured walker on a stretcher through a wood to their Polaris off-road vehicle. A short journey across a couple of very muddy fields and the casualty was handed over to the crewed Ambulance.

An unfortunate end to a local walk for the casualty, who we would like to wish well for a full and swift recovery.

The incident involved 10 Team members for 1 hour 40 minutes. A further 7 members were stood down as they arrived at, or were driving to, the RVP.
