Incident Type: Rescue

While a search was getting underway in Blyth yesterday afternoon, North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (NEAS) requested assistance from ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team with a separate incident involving a fallen walker near Newbrough.

The casualty had reportedly fallen backwards, suffering serious injuries. With no phone signal at the scene, the 999 caller had to move to raise the alarm.

A Double Crewed Ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were dispatched. Our volunteers redirected from the Blyth area and elsewhere to respond quickly to the Newbrough incident.

Working closely with NEAS and HART, our team helped assess the casualty and supported the stretcher evacuation to an awaiting ambulance, avoiding a more difficult extraction route. The patient was then transported to hospital for further treatment.

Thanks to all agencies involved for a swift and coordinated response.

The incident involved 5 Team members for 1 hour and 40 minutes.
