The North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust requested the assistance of North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves on Wednesday afternoon for a male who had fallen 3m into Scotch Gill on the outskirts of Morpeth. The Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team and Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service were already on scene.
Team members and three blue light 4x4 response vehicles were swiftly deployed as initial reports indicated that the extraction of the injured male could prove difficult. Thankfully as our Landrover Defender and some local Team members arrived at the RVP, it was confirmed that the male had been safely evacuated to the roadside and a crewed Ambulance.
At this point (17.45hrs) the Teams were stood down.
The incident involved 25 Team members for 1 hour 25 minutes.
