Incident Type: Rescue
On Saturday afternoon, ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team were called out by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assist a male casualty near Linhope Spout.
Given the remote location and potential severity, both teams were mobilised immediately. Early responders deployed under blue lights, while control worked to gather information and establish an RV point. Difficulties with mobile signal and an initial incorrect grid reference delayed exact location details, but team members and the NEAS crew successfully navigated to the casualty using verbal description of the location.
The casualty, who had a lower leg injury, was assessed and treated at the scene by a community paramedic and mountain rescue personnel. The injury was stabilised before the casualty was transported by MR vehicle to a waiting ambulance at Hartside.
With the casualty safely handed over, the teams were stood down.
Thanks to everyone involved — and a reminder to visitors in popular areas of Northumberland, please park considerately ensuring there’s plenty of room for emergency service vehicles to get past. Poor access can delay emergency services reaching those in need.
The incident involved 17 team members for 2 hours and 11 minutes.
