The Mountain Rescue Teams were activated by North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust on Saturday for a medical emergency in Kielder Forest. At the time of the request the exact location of the patient was unknown and it was unclear whether the Ambulance Service would be able to access the location.

Given the potential seriousness of the situation, two Mountain Rescue response vehicles were deployed and a full callout initiated.

Thankfully as members were travelling to the designated RVP, the Community Paramedic confirmed that they had been able to access the patient’s location and intended to transport them to the nearest road. At this point the Teams stood down and returned to base.

The incident involved 13 Team members for 1 hour 15 minutes.
