On Sunday afternoon a young male sustained a potentially serious injury while cycling along the Lakeside Way at Kielder Water. The North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust requested Mountain Rescue’s support given the potential difficulty in accessing the location.

Two 4x4 vehicles with specialist rescue equipment and members from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves were swiftly deployed to RV at the car park on the north side of Kielder dam. As the first blue light vehicle and members arrived, the Ambulance Service confirmed they had accessed the casualty’s location on the north side of the reservoir and our support was no longer required.

We would like to wish the casualty well for a full and swift recovery.

The incident involved 14 Team members for 2 hours 15 minutes.
