Incident Type: Rescue
On Tuesday, ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team were requested by Northumbria Police to assist a member of the public who had become lost in dense woodland in the Kidland Forest area, between Cushat Law and Bloodybush Edge.
Our Duty Controller made contact with the caller, confirming he was uninjured, well equipped, and able to remain safe. Using PhoneFind, his location was accurately established, and he was advised to stay where he was.
Given the low risk, a limited response was deployed. Curlew Echo, having returned from a training activity nearby, was tasked to respond and picked up additional team members en route. Other personnel who had begun mobilising were stood down.
On arrival, the team approached on foot, locating the casualty in thick woodland by voice. After confirming he was safe and well, they assisted him back to the vehicle before returning him to his car.
The team was then able to return to base shortly afterwards.
The incident involved 5 team members for 2 hours with a further 4 team members (drivers) stood down on route to base
