During afternoon, ourselves and North of Tyne MRT were activated by Northumbria Police to support in the search for a high-risk missing person in the Sunderland area.

Police resources, including drones and the National Police Air Service (NPAS), were already searching, with cell site analysis suggesting the misper was in farmland north of the Nissan plant.

Our duty controller liaised with the Police Search Advisor (POLSA), placing the teams on standby and preparing drivers and drone crews. However, before deployment, the missing person re-established contact with police and began engaging with them. At this stage, it was agreed that Mountain Rescue assistance was no longer required, and our teams were stood down.

The incident involved 8 Team members for 49 minutes. A further 14 members were on standby in readiness to deploy if the incident escalated.
