On Wednesday afternoon, ourselves and NNorth of Tyne Mountain Rescue Teamwere alerted by the NNorth East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trustto reports of an incident near Housesteads Roman Fort, described as being up the hill from the car park where a person had fallen and suffered a lower leg injury.
A PhoneFind was quickly sent to confirm the location while team members began mobilising to our bases. As vehicles and personnel were being readied, further information from the PhoneFind and follow-up calls clarified that the situation was actually within the museum area.
With the location confirmed and no requirement for mountain rescue assistance, both teams were stood down shortly after deployment.
