Incident Type: Rescue

The first callout came from Northumbria Police for a female walker who had fallen while out with her family, sustaining a lower leg injury.

With no other emergency resources on scene, a full team callout was initiated. Team vehicles deployed under blue lights from team bases in Pegswood and West Denton, while local members and a team member who was climbing in the area made their way directly to the casualty.

Following assessment and the administration of pain relief, she was carefully assisted into a Mountain Rescue vehicle. She was driven back to Housesteads Museum to meet a North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust ambulance for transfer to hospital. Her family were escorted out with support from team members.

The incident involved 21 Team members for 3 hours.
