A reasonably well equipped male walker in his mid 60s called Northumbria Police on Easter Saturday evening indicating he was lost on a track in woods, possibly Hepburn Woods. The male had an Ordnance Survey map with him but was unable to provide a more accurate location.
As part of the initial response, the Mountain Rescue duty controller sent a PhoneFind text to the walker’s mobile but unfortunately no location information was received. However, before any deployment was required at 20.08hrs the Police confirmed that they had located the walker, safe and well, close to a road.
A good swift outcome for all concerned.
The incident involved 7 Team members for 20 minutes.
