The North East Ambulance Service and Northumbria Police had been unable to locate a vulnerable person who had potentially sustained a lower leg injury in a field to the north east of Harbottle in Coquetdale.

Given the nature of the area Mountain Rescue’s support was requested. A PhoneFind text was immediately sent to person’s phone and our response vehicle, Curlew Echo, with three members on board was deployed from Rothbury to liaise with the emergency services near to Burradon. Other members from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and our team were placed on standby in case the incident escalated.

With limited and conflicting information available, the area was overflown by the National Police Air Service while a couple of places of interest were investigated by the on scene Mountain Rescue resources. As the limited foot and vehicle search was being conducted, Northumbria Police confirmed that the male had been located by one of their officers on the road towards Rothbury. He was safe and well.

A good, swift outcome.

The incident involved 6 members for 2 hours 15 minutes. A further members 8 were on standby.
