Northumbria Police activated Mountain Rescue yesterday afternoon for a high risk missing person from the Haltwhistle area. In discussion with the Police Silver Commander it was agreed that North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves would deploy.

A tactical command was established alongside the Police in their Silver Room, while vehicles and members were requested to RV at Haltwhistle Fire Station. As members travelled to the RV, a search strategy and plan was agreed with the Police focused on routes emanating out from Haltwhistle area and based on new information, Hareshaw Linn near Bellingham.

Thankfully in the early stages of the search, the male was located by the Police on a road as he was heading back towards Haltwhistle. A positive and swift outcome for all concerned.
