A 72 year old male was reported missing from home in Haltwhistle on the afternoon of Monday 9 January and Mountain Rescue was activated by Northumbria Police that evening to assist with the search.
Following a discussion between the Police Search Adviser and our Duty Controller, a night time deployment was agreed. Routes and small open areas with ditches, culverts and copses of trees to the west of the village were prioritised and searched overnight in reasonable conditions. With nothing found, our volunteer members stood down and returned home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident involved 30 Team members for 6 hours 55 minutes on this day. The search continued on the following day.
