Gateshead

On Sunday morning, North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team (NOTMRT) and ourselves were requested to assist in the search for a missing Gateshead man. The man had been reported missing in the early hours of Saturday morning after he left his home address. The request from Northumbria Police was to conduct open area searches including Windy Nook Nature Park and Whitehills Nature Reserve.

With a significant number of our Team members training in Upper Coquetdale, it was agreed NOTMRT would commit resources to the search. Seven area searches of mixed vegetation and terrain were conducted by search groups and one search dog team with nothing found. Police enquiries are ongoing.

The incident involved 17 Team members for 7 hours 15 minutes.
