Incident Type: Rescue

On Wednesday. Ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team team was requested by North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assist with a difficult extraction after a young male fell approximately 10m into a stream gorge. The casualty sustained several serious injuries.

Given the challenging terrain, our technical rescue expertise was requested by the HART team. Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service also deployed crews from Hexham and Prudhoe.

Team members were en route when we received an update: MRT was no longer required. NFRS had successfully set up a single line system to safely extract the casualty, who was then transferred to a land ambulance.

The incident involved 26 team members for 1 hour and 3 minutes.
