Incident Type: Rescue

Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team (TWSMRT) were called today at 12.33hrs by the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assist in locating and evacuating a male who had fallen in woods north of Ebchester Bridge. With the location being close the operational boundary with ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team, TWSMRT requested our support. A limited callout was instigated and a small number of members local to the incident were mobilised, along with one of our 4×4 response vehicles.

The gentleman was located around a kilometre from the roadside in woodland near to the River Derwent. He was then placed in a vacuum mattress on a Bell stretcher and carried downhill out of the woodland and across a ploughed field to a footbridge over the river and the waiting double crewed ambulance.

The incident involved 8 Team members for 2 hours 56 minutes.
