Incident Type: Search

On Wednesday evening, our volunteers were called out alongside North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team at the request of Northumbria Police to assist in the search for a high-risk missing person in the East Cramlington area.

Whilst team members travelled to the rendezvous point, our Duty Controller worked closely with the Police Initial Missing Person Search Adviser (IMPSA) to develop a search plan using the available information. Based on this, volunteers were deployed to search a number of footpaths, woodland and open areas around East Cramlington Country Park.

Thanks to an excellent response from both mountain rescue teams, we were able to deploy 10 search teams, supported by two mountain rescue search dogs and both of our response vehicles. Volunteers systematically searched the agreed areas and routes before the operation concluded later that evening.

We were later that the misper had been located by Northumbria Police.

The incident involved 37 Team members for 7hours and 2 minutes.
