A man in is 80s had been walking in the Hexham area before becoming exhausted and falling over. Northumbria Police alerted North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves, and used our location app, PhoneFind, to confirm the man’s whereabouts. His location was identified as being on a track in Dukeshouse Wood.
A limited response was swiftly initiated with local members responding direct to the scene and two 4×4 response vehicles deployed on blue lights with vital rescue equipment on board.
Once located the man was assessed and treated by Team medics before it was confirmed he could walk out of the wood to the nearest road. Back at the road a further medical assessment was undertaken by Team Paramedics before the man was discharged into the care of his family.
The North East Ambulance Service were also involved in the incident. We would like to wish the man well and hope he’s fully recovered from his ordeal.
