Last week Northumbria Police requested HM Coastguard Northumberland and Mountain Rescue’s support in searching for a man who had been reported missing from his home address in Hadston.
Working alongside the Police Search Adviser, search scenarios and a plan were drawn up and over Tuesday evening and Wednesday, extensive searches were conducted by the partner agencies involved. Despite everyone’s best efforts nothing was found and the specialist search resources were stood down.
Very sadly on Monday 2 October, Northumbria Police confirmed that a body believed to be that of the missing person had been found in the Druridge Bay area. The body was located outside of the areas searched by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves.
Our thoughts are with the man’s next of kin at this incredibly difficult time.
The incidents involved 34 Team members for 3 hours 50 minutes on day one and 13 Team members for 9 hours 10 minutes on day two.
