Incident Type: Rescue
The North East Ambulance Service requested Mountain Rescue’s assistance for an incident downstream of Corbridge. A person had fallen approximately 20 feet down an embankment onto rocks beside the River Tyne and it was believed a technical rope rescue extrication would be required.
Volunteers from North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and our Team were duly called out and 4×4 response vehicles, with specialist rescue equipment, mobilised from their respective bases. As our first Team members arrived at the RVP it was confirmed by NEAS that the injured person was on their feet and an extrication was possible with the assistance of the crew. At this point all Mountain Rescue resources were stood down.
The incident involved 21 Team members for 55 minutes.
