On Monday morning a Sprocker-cross and its owner needing rescuing from a cliff ledge in Chopwell Woods. After the dog had become stuck on the ledge above the River Derwent, their owner clambered down and got stuck himself in a precarious position.
Northumbria Police requested Mountain Rescue’s services to assist resolving the incident. As resources were mobilising, the Police confirmed that Tyne & Wear Fire and Rescue Service could handle the incident. At this point the Teams stood down.
The Fire Service’s specialist rope rescue team brought the owner and their dog, Milo, to safety. Great job.
The incident involved 7 Team members for 1 hour 20 minutes.
