Incident Type: Standby
On Tuesday, Northumbria Police activated ourselves and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team at 1435 hours to support the search for a male in Choppington Woods north of Bedlington who had been missing since that morning.
One of our duty controllers travelled to Bedlington Police station to provide support and coordinate the mountain rescue response; police officers and a drone had already been deployed to try and locate the man.
Whilst liaising with the police, more intelligence started to arrive indicating the missing person was now out of that area. Given this new information it was agreed that Mountain Rescue would stand down as police enquires continued.
The incident involved 6 Team members for 1 hour and 40 minutes. A further 29 members were on standby in readiness to deploy if the incident went to deployment.
