A lone walker reported himself as lost between Scafell Pike and Great End in the Lake District. Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team were called out by Cumbria Police and were joined overnight by Keswick Mountain Rescue Team before a full Lake District panel callout was instigated in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident was escalated further with Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England teams being called in from outside of the area. Our handler and his search dog Tess responded and were tasked to search from Seathwaite in Borrowdale up to and around the Esk Hause area and then up onto Great End.
Thankfully a find was made by one of the teams involved at approximately 14.25hrs in the Piers Gill area. As the press release below states, the male was very, very fortunate to have survived his ordeal.
A great effort by all the Lake District MRTs and search dogs both from within and outside of the area.
The incident involved 1 Team member and search dog for 13 hours.
