A walker, who was part of a group of students, sustained a leg injury whilst on Hadrian’s Wall near to Cawfields Quarry. The group leader dialled 999 and via the Police requested Mountain Rescue.

North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves responded immediately deploying two vehicles and requesting members to travel directly to the RVP. A local member was on scene with the casualty within an hour. The casualty had been very well cared for by the group prior to the arrival of our members.

Thankfully with the very dry weather conditions, the casualty site was accessible by one of our vehicles, avoiding the need to carry out the casualty on a stretcher.

Within two hours, the casualty was down at Cawfields Quarry awaiting the arrival of the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust crewed ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

We would like to wish the student well for their recovery and hope they are out again soon in the stunning Northumberland countryside.

The incident involved 11 Team members for 3 hours.
