Incident Type: Rescue
The first Saturday in July each year sees fell runners compete in the Chevy Chase, a 20-mile race starting and finishing in Wooler, and taking in the summits of The Cheviot and Hedgehope Hill. The 67th Chevy Chase, once again saw the Team providing support at the event centre and out on the course.
The majority of the 175 runners safely made it to the finish line despite the changeable and at times challenging conditions on the hill. Unfortunately two runners separately took a bit of tumble in the Carey Burn and face planted the ground. One runner was provided medical care back at the event centre while the other was treated for their injuries by Carey Burn Bridge before being allowed to continue.
The incident involved 3 Team members for 1 hour 45 minutes. A total of 28 members were involved in providing the event support for 8 hours 30 minutes.
