Following a missing male’s vehicle being located near Broomley, Northumbria Police activated the Teams for assistance in the search. With the Police having already searched fields, footpaths and woodland in the immediate vicinity of the missing person’s vehicle, it was agreed a first light search would be initiated.
The search focused on routes and the wooded areas to the north, south and east of the missing person’s vehicle. Alongside Police and Mountain Rescue resources, Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue Service’s drone was utilised.
At shortly before 15.00hrs the male was located. He received initial treatment from a Mountain Rescue Doctor before being transferred to hospital.
The incident involved 5 members for 2 hours on the night of Thursday 15 September and 18 members for 11 hours on the Friday.
