As the evacuation was underway at Kielder, the Teams received a request for assistance from Northumbria Police. A child had been reported missing in the Breamish valley near to Alnhammoor. Given the nature of the incident an immediate callout was initiated, with the vehicles from Kielder travelling on blue lights to make progress, and a third control vehicle deployed.

Whilst our tactical command liaised with the Police, initial checks were undertaken by our incident commander on scene in the Breamish valley.

Thankfully as the operational incident control was being established at Hartside, the good news came in that the missing child had been located safe and well by the National Police Air Service helicopter. The child was later reunited with their very relieved family.

A good, swift outcome for all concerned. Multiagency working at its very best.

The incident involved 18 Team members for 2 hours.
