North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and ourselves were activated by Northumbria Police in the early hours of Tuesday morning to assist in the search for a high risk missing male.

The Teams were put on standby while further information was gathered and a plan was agreed with the Police Search Adviser. A control vehicle and 4x4 vehicle were also deployed in advance of Team members arriving. As the incident was on our operational boundary with Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team, they too were placed on standby.

No sooner than one of our Duty Controllers had arrived at the RVP in Blanchland, a PhoneFind fix was established for the missing male. Our controller was able to direct Police resources and the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust crew to the male’s location.

At this point the Teams stood down and returned the vehicles to their respective bases.

The incident involved 11 Team members for 2 hours 15 minutes.
