Incident Type: Rescue
On Monday afternoon, North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust activated Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team for a walker who had sustained a potentially serious injury on moorland to the west of Blanchland. As the incident location was within our operational area, TWSMRT passed details to our duty controller group.
Teams were placed on standby and members began heading to vehicles, but before a callout message was initiated, an update came through that the walker was now mobile and making their own way to their vehicle. With this update, NEAS resources, TWSMRT members and our own volunteers were stood down.
The incident involved 5 Team members for 26 minutes. A further 11 members were on standby.
