Last Saturday the Team provided medical cover for the Alwinton Border Shepherds' Show and cover for the junior and adults fell race. We also had the opportunity to chat to those visiting the Show at our own fundraising stall.
One of the most popular activities at the Show is Cumbrian wrestling but unfortunately on this occasion, a teenage competitor sustained a serious lower arm injury. Our Team’s Medical Officer - a Paramedic - assessed the teenager, immobilised the injury and administered pain relief. Due to the nature of the injury and the long wait time for an Ambulance, the Team then transported the teenager to hospital.
Since returning home from hospital, we’ve heard that the teenager is making good progress and should hopefully make a full recovery. The family also passed on their thanks to the Team for providing such a professional help and care.
The incident involved 6 Team members for 5 hours 30 minutes.
